Connector

Connectors are meant to establish connections between two or more terminals. It is different from switches because the connections are permanent or semi-permanent in nature. This means that connections, once established, are not going to break during course of operation. Unlike Switch, Connector is not a control device; rather it is a convenience.

Connectors are classified as Male Connector and Female Connector. However, they have been given special names depending upon their area of application. For example, Female Connectors in a domestic wiring is called Socket, whereas Male Connector is known as Plug.
