ACME Solar Holdings Ltd has won its maiden standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, securing a cumulative capacity of 275 MW/550 MWh in Andhra Pradesh through a competitive tender conducted by NHPC Limited earlier this year.
The winning bids were for the Kuppam and Ghani projects. Here are the details of the 2 projects:
Kuppam Project: ACME Solar’s bid was ₹2,10,000 per MW per month for a 50 MW/100 MWh project.
Ghani Project: The winning bid stood at ₹2,22,000 per MW per month for a 225 MW/450 MWh project.

These projects will require system availability for 2 full operational cycles of 2-hours each every day, further strengthening ACME Solar’s position in energy storage.
As part of the project, ACME Solar will receive viability gap funding (VGF) of ₹27 lakh per MWh or 30% of the total project cost, whichever is lower. This financial support will enhance the company's ability to implement these large-scale storage systems efficiently and cost-effectively.
The deployment of advanced storage technology at scale would support Andhra Pradesh’s vision for sustainable growth and energy security.
