Volks Energie has secured a project from Power Grid Corp. of India Ltd (PGCIL) to deploy Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries for energy storage.
Volks Energie, announced that it has secured a project to help Power Grid Corp. of India Ltd (PGCIL) move from traditional lead-acid batteries to more reliable and sustainable Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries.
Compared to lead-acid batteries, which have 5-7 years of battery life, nickel-cadmium batteries have three times longer life of 20+ years, thus also reducing hazardous wastes and optimizing operational costs. Additionally, Ni-Cd batteries are more reliable and resilient and perform better in extreme climatic conditions, hence effectively eliminating the problem of “sudden death”, found commonly with VRLA batteries, stated Volks Energie.
